What is Laser Tattoo Removal

What is Laser Toning / Laser tattoo removal

Laser toning is a gentler method for tattoo removal, making it a preferred option for delicate procedures like permanent makeup removal. Unlike more aggressive techniques, laser toning targets the pigments with precision, minimizing damage to the surrounding skin. The laser will target the dark, uneven pigments in your eyebrow tattoos, breaking them down into smaller particles. These particles are then naturally processed and eliminated by your body over time, causing the tattoo to gradually fade. The laser is precise, allowing us to address uneven or overly dark areas without harming the surrounding skin or natural eyebrow hairs. This procedure is done in multiple sessions, depending on the depth and saturation of the pigment, to ensure safe and effective results. It’s a proven method to help you achieve a lighter, more natural look or remove the tattoo entirely, giving you the freedom to reshape or redo your brows as you wish.

Why do i need to remove my brows?

If you’re striving for natural-looking brows but feel that your current tattooed brows are holding you back, laser tattoo removal can help you start fresh. By fading or completely removing the tattoo, you’ll have a clean slate to work with, giving you the freedom to reshape or enhance your brows in a way that complements your features.

Is It Painful?

Since the eyebrows are on the face, extra precautions are taken to protect the surrounding skin and natural eyebrow hairs, including the use of protective eyewear. Some mild discomfort, like a snapping sensation, may occur, but numbing creams can help minimize pain. Temporary redness, swelling, or scabbing may follow each session.

Is There Any Downtime?

After laser tattoo removal, you can fill in your brows the next day as long as you follow proper aftercare instructions. Since swelling typically subsides within 24-48 hours and there’s no scabbing, blistering, or significant downtime. Keeping the area moisturized with a recommended aftercare product will also help maintain the health of your skin while allowing you to achieve a polished look.

Why can’t I Get Hair Strokes Over my Tattoo?

If your current eyebrow tattoo is oversaturated with pigment, adding new hair strokes over it can make the tattoo appear even more unnatural. When new pigment is layered on top of an already dense or dark tattoo, it can blend with the underlying ink, causing the color to turn grey or ashy over time. To achieve the best results and create natural, realistic-looking brows, we recommend lightening or removing the existing pigment with laser tattoo removal before applying new hair strokes. This process allows us to work on a cleaner, more even canvas, ensuring your new brows look natural, soft, and beautifully defined.

Clients Who Only Needed 1-2 sessions of Laser Toning

Why these clients only need 1-2 session of Laser Toning

Brows with lighter ink or minimal touch-ups generally require fewer sessions of laser toning for removal. Since the pigment is less concentrated and not deeply embedded in the skin, the laser can break it down more efficiently. With fewer layers of ink to target, the process is quicker and requires less energy, reducing the overall number of treatments needed.

Example of after 1-2 sessions

Healed Removal with no tattoo over top

This client had old permanent makeup which turned gray over time. She didn’t hate but because she is a strawberry blonde the gray brows looked too harsh on her. We were able to laser tone then and lighten them with just one session and she opted to no longer get permanent makeup.

Clients Who Needed 3-4 Sessions of Laser Toning

Oversaturated or Uneven Shapes

Brows that are oversaturated with ink or have undergone multiple touch-ups typically require more sessions of laser toning for effective removal. This is because the higher concentration of pigment and repeated layering of ink create a denser, deeper deposit in the skin. The laser must break down these layers gradually to ensure safe and effective removal while minimizing potential skin damage. As a result, additional sessions are needed to target the stubborn pigments and achieve the desired outcome.

Example of 3-4 Sessions of laser on oversaturtated brows

Laser tattoo removal works by targeting specific pigment colors in the skin, but it can only address one color at a time based on the laser's wavelength. Initially, darker colors like blue and grey are more easily broken down as they absorb the laser energy more effectively. Once these pigments are removed, the laser then targets other colors, such as red. However, lighter pigments, particularly yellow, are more challenging to remove because they reflect more laser light and absorb less energy. As a result, a yellowish hue may remain at the end of the removal process. However we can effectively cover it up with a fresh new tattoo.

The colors that may appear during the process of removal

After the first session of laser toning, your brows may appear red or salmon-toned. After 30–60 days of healing, the next session will focus on targeting the red pigment. Following the second session, the brows may transition to a taupe or pale yellow shade. Each laser toning session requires 30–60 days of healing time, including the period before the final cover-up session.

The Pale Yellow is the perfect coverup color

The pale yellow tone will continue to fade over time, gradually becoming less noticeable as your skin heals and the pigment breaks down further.

How Long Do I Have to Wait to Get My Brows Done Again?

For the best results, we recommend waiting 30 days between each laser session to allow your skin to heal properly. After that, you'll need to wait another 60 days before getting your new set of nano brows. This ensures optimal healing and helps achieve the best outcome for your brow treatment.

What is the Aftercare?

After your laser brow treatment, Avoid touching or picking at the area to prevent irritation and infection. Clean your brows gently with a mild cleanser and lukewarm water, but avoid scrubbing. Apply a thin layer of the healing ointment provided to keep the area moisturized and aid in healing. Stay out of direct sunlight, and if you need to go outside, wear a hat or use sunscreen once your brows are fully healed. Lastly, stay hydrated to support your skin’s healing process. Just follow these steps, and your brows will heal beautifully!

What is the cost?

The cost for each session is $150. We offer a special rate for clients who have been with us since 2018 and longer. For more information, please contact us!
